1990, World Folk Art Imports has been introducing to its clientele
handmade items from Guatemala and Bolivia. Traditionally woven
Guatemalan textiles are used to create folk art in the form
of coin pouches, wallets, purses, and hats. World Folk Art
Imports buyers searched through Central and South America
and found in Bolivia a unique line of sweaters and pullovers.
New designs of this line have been presented successfully
for the past eight years.

t
is important to ensure that the products World Folk Art Imports
buys are made under humane and fair conditions. The buyers
of World Folk Art Imports travel throughout the country of
Guatemala to make contact with artisan families and buy directly
from the weavers and knitters. Artisans continue their traditional
weaving due to buyers like ourselves. New and recycled textiles
enables the artisan to make one of a kind bags, purses, wallets,
and other products. Their continued success is based upon
supply and demand. If this process were ever interrupted the
artisans would have to leave their villages and relocate to
surrounding cities looking for work. World Folk Art Imports
is very proud of having established a relationship with artisan
families throughout the country of Guatemala. As there are
no factories in these villages, we visit the families’ homes
to buy the items we provide to our clientele.

is known for its knitters and for the beautiful sweaters they
produce. World Folk Art Imports is fortunate to be associated
with one of Bolivia's best producers of hand knitted cardigans
and pullovers, that this South American country has to offer.
We would like to share with you, our clientele the comfort
and beauty that such garments can bring to your life. These
sweaters are knitted by women in their homes, and then brought
to the producer/ exporter where the finishing touches like,
wooden or ceramic buttons are added and then shipped to World
Folk art Imports in Canada, to be distributed to you our customers.
